New Parks Cruising Association

RYA

About us

New Parks Cruising Association is a club for people interested in sailing and motor boating. Originally founded for past students of RYA courses once held as evening classes at the New Parks College in Leicester. Membership is open to all, not just those who own boats. Most of our Members live in the Leicestershire area, but we do have some in other parts of the country and overseas.

The objectives of the Association

  • To provide the opportunity for Members to participate in sailing and power boating.
  • To encourage Members to gain practical experience at sea and on inland waterways.
  • To organise lectures on all aspects of boating to increase members knowledge.

What we do

Talks

The Association organise monthly talks from October to March. They cover a wide variety of subjects, many with a nautical theme. The talks are held at a local venue in Leicestershire or by Zoom. All talks are held on the third Tuesday in the month, starting at 7:30pm and finishing around 9:00pm. Guests are welcome.

Rallies

Throughout the year we organise a series of sailing rallies on the Solent and motor boating events on inland waterways.

Commodore’s Lunch

Once a year we hold a meal at a venue in Leicestershire which gives our active sailing members and those retired from the sport an opportunity to meet. Members may bring guests to this event.

Magazine

We occasionally produce a digital magazine called Broad Reach filled with articles written by our members. The last 11 issues can be read here on this website.
